Disaster preparedness in Philippine nurses
This publication assesses the level of disaster preparedness of nurses in the Philippines. The nurses explained that they were neither prepared nor aware of protocols in disaster management in hospitals. Taking into account the above, the authors propose that:
- The administration of hospitals should develop and apply disaster management protocols.
- In addition, nurses should be provided with education and training on disaster nursing.
- In the context of nursing courses, curricula should include the principles of disaster management.
