Disaster risk reduction: building resilience and investing for a safer tomorrow
This brochure illustrates the USAID's efforts in promoting disaster risk reduction, and in preventing or reducing the damage caused by natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, droughts, and storms.
It provides examples of specific USAID assistance: in strengthening early warning systems in the Philippines, Indonesia, Mozambique and Guatemala; in supporting livelihoods to reduce the economic impact of disasters in the context of food security in times of drought in Namibia; and in integrating risk reduction with disaster response through the improvement of shelters to withstand storms in Bangladesh.
