Disaster risk reduction, climate change and livelihood of the poor and marginalized people
A framework for Oxfam-GB Bangladesh:
This report attempts to analyse livelihoods of poor people in the changing climate of Bangladesh, drawing from study outputs from different ecosystems, geographical locations, hazards, and livelihood groups. It asserts that reducing vulnerability and increasing capacity of people to reduce disaster risks in the changing climate involves huge array of stakeholders, livelihood groups, ecosystems, process and legacy. It recommends actions at household, community, institutional and systematic levels; and calls for the central and local governments to address the needs for the community to protect their assets, to recover from disasters and to prepare better for future disasters.
