Disaster risk reduction game kit: Game 3: Dissolving disasters
"Dissolving disasters" is the third installment in the Disaster Risk Reduction Game Kit. The game is a physical participatory activity that aims to support experiential learning and dialogue on the concept of “resilience.” Players become donors or subsistence farmers and face changing risks. They must make individual and collective decisions, with consequences. Rich discussions emerge, and there will be winners and losers.
The game teaches players about communication skills, decision-making under uncertainty, and the role of donors in humanitarian and development work. The intended audience is community members, disaster managers, donors, volunteers, and branch officers. It requires 10 to 40 players and takes about 60-120 minutes to complete.
