Disaster risk reduction in times of climate change
This book addresses disaster preparedness in developing countries as an important contribution to climate change adaptation, asserting that tropical storms and other weather-related extreme events like heavy rainfall and landslides will increase further. It aims to support developing countries, who are expected to suffer more from the consequences of climate change, to prepare themselves for extreme natural events, and intends to assist in reconstruction the regions and countries affected by natural disasters as well as ensuring the conditions for sustainable development.
The attached Indonesian example illustrates a broad-based disaster risk reduction programme in Indonesia supported by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.
