The EnRiCH community intervention: collaborative asset-mapping to enhance resilience for high risk populations

This manual was created to provide a resource tool for communities to enhance resilience and disaster preparedness. It provides a summary of the EnRiCH project, a description of the framework that informed the design of the intervention, and a step-by-step explanation of how to implement the EnRiCH collaborative asset-mapping protocol.

The EnRiCH Project was designed to address the need for information about how to include high risk populations in community resilience-oriented interventions and to implement and evaluate an inclusive collaborative asset-mapping intervention, using a salutogenic approach. This approach recognizes assets which promote resilience, in conjunction with the needs of the community. Recognition of assets shifts the lens toward potential contribution and functional needs for support, rather than vulnerability. This collaborative asset-mapping intervention was designed, implemented and evaluated in partnership with 5 communities in Canada.

Ce manuel a été créé pour renforcer la résilience des collectivités et leur préparation aux désastres. Il comprend le sommaire du projet EnRiCH, le cadre conceptuel de l’intervention et une marche à suivre détaillée pour l’application de l’inventaire des ressources.

Le Projet EnRiCH vise à évaluer un inventaire des ressources par une approche « salutogène » qui repère les ressources favorisant la résilience, le tout selon les besoins de la collectivité. En répertoriant les ressources, on souligne la possibilité de contribuer et les besoins fonctionnels au lieu des vulnérabilités. L’inventaire a été effectué avec cinq collectivités canadiennes.
