PLOS Currents Disasters, Oct 2014, Edition 1, doi: 10.1371/currents.dis.11381147bd5e89e38e78434a732f17db
This study addresses the need for empirical research on community level initiatives designed to enhance resilience for high-risk groups, and it presents the EnRiCH Community Resilience Framework for High-Risk Populations. This framework is empirically-based, using qualitative data from focus groups conducted as part of an asset-mapping intervention in five communities in Canada, and builds on extant literature in the fields of disaster and emergency management, health promotion, and community development. Further, the article presents recommendations for how this framework can be used to guide the design of future resilience-oriented initiatives with particular emphasis on inclusive engagement across a range of functional capabilities.
