EU resilience compendium: saving lives and livelihoods
The European Commission (DG ECHO - Humanitarian aid and civil protection) publication showcases examples of successful resilience projects, i.e. 27 examples of existing best practices from around the world.
The key aim of this publication is to foster learning and a better understanding of how resilience can lead to more effective humanitarian assistance and transformational change for the most vulnerable. Each example presented in the Compendium demonstrates that successful and cost-effective methods and approaches exist, and they can reduce vulnerability and build resilience of populations.
The Compendium was launched at an event organized by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) at the UN Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction which is currently taking place in Sendai, Japan.
