Explain to me... the Earth
This book is essentially a geological description of the solar system and of the Earth's functioning. It's fifth chapter focuses on natural phenomena that occur on the Earth, mainly geological disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. It gives a geological description of the genesis of an earthquake, with a definition of the MSK scale which measures their intensity. The second part is a description of the different types of volcanic eruptions. A third sub-chapter gives a brief description of other natural phenomena: avalanches, abundant rains, floods, landslides, drought, storms, cyclones... with several examples. (UNESCO)
