Flood protection structure accreditation task force: final report
This report analyses USACE Inspection of Completed Works (ICW) program and FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), both concerned with life safety, reduction of property damage due to floods and communicating flood hazards and risks. It provides recommendations: (i) for aligning agency processes so information collected for either programs can be used interchangeably; and (ii) to align the information and data collected by or for the USACE ICW program so it is sufficient to satisfy NFIP accreditation requirements for levee systems. It considers: the level of change required for a comprehensive alignment, life safety Considerations associated with levee accreditation for NFIP, information provided by USACE risk assessments as well as levee inspections and screenings, the cost implications and stakeholder involvement.
