Flood susceptibility mapping contributes to disaster risk reduction: A case study in Sindh, Pakistan
This study assessed the damage caused by the 2022 flash flood in Sindh and identified flood-susceptible zones based on the frequency ratio (FR) and analytical hierarchy process (AHP) models. Flood inventory maps were generated, containing 150 flood sampling points, which were manually selected from Landsat imagery.
The models revealed variations in flood susceptibility patterns across the districts, emphasizing the importance of considering models to achieve a wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of the phenomena of flood risk. The validation and accuracy assessment of the models demonstrated their effectiveness in predicting flood susceptibility.
