G7 Inclusion and disability: The Solfagnano Charter
The Solfagnano Charter is a document containing the commitments of Ministers and Countries attending the G7, which are inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Solfagnano Charter consists of 8 priorities upon which the G7 countries commit to take action and support concrete policies for the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. Priority 8 calls for the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in emergency preparedness and post-emergency management.
The priorities identified include:
- Inclusion as a priority issue in the political agenda of all countries;
- Access and accessibility;
- Autonomous and independent life;
- Enhancement of talents and work inclusion;
- Promotion of new technologies;
- Sports, recreational and cultural dimensions of life;
- Dignity of life and appropriate community-based services;
- Prevention and management of emergency preparedness and post-emergency management situations, including climate crises, armed conflicts and humanitarian crises.
