Gender and rights matter - stories of inclusive practices in disaster risk reduction
"Gender and Rights Matter - Stories of Inclusive Practices in Disaster Risk Reduction" is an attempt to document the best practices on inclusive approaches from the "Building resilience through inclusive and climate-adaptive disaster risk reduction in Asia-Pacific (BRDR)" program of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC).
Disasters have immediate and long-lasting impacts on the vulnerable populations. Women, the elderly, persons with disabilities, children, indigenous people, and other marginalized groups are the most affected by disasters and climate change. Their vulnerability is further aggravated by gender biases, class, caste, ethnicity, and many more. The ADPC program helps enhance gender equality, inclusion, and rights-based approaches in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Resilience (CR).
