Global Report on Internal Displacement (2023): Internal displacement and food security
IDMC's Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID) is the world’s most trusted source of data and analysis on the risk, scale and impacts of internal displacement. The 2023 report is its eighth edition and will focus on food insecurity as a driver, impact and potential barrier to solutions for internal displacement. The report is categorized into two parts.
Part 1: Internal displacement in 2022
This section presents global internal displacement data collected by IDMC throughout 2022, within the various political, economic and social contexts of different countries and regions. It will present figures on internal displacement triggered by conflict and disasters at the global level, as well as IDMC’s latest estimates on the economic impact of displacement.
Part 2: Food security and displacement
This section contains data and analysis that show the complex relationships between disasters, conflict, food insecurity and internal displacement. This year’s report will present key dimensions of the relationship between food security and internal displacement, each, in turn, acting as a driver and an impact of the other, with both reinforcing lasting cycles of vulnerability and crisis.
