This report presents a comparison of non-water and water-related disasters from 1900 to 2006. It aims to determine trends and insights into extreme weather events to aid policymakers in preparing their communities for natural hazards.
The report is comprised of three sections: (i) section one introduces the objectives of the report and explains the methodology of data collection; (ii) section two compares the frequency and intensity of non-water and water-related disasters from 1900 to 2006; (iii) section three presents water-related disaster trends by region, damage type, and hazard type, and contains a conclusion of the report's findings.
