Guidelines for Climate Change Adaptation at the local level in the Alps
The Summary of the Guidelines presented here is the outcome of the work of the Task Force on Climate Change (CC) of the Italian Presidency of the Alpine Convention. The initiative launched during its mandate (2013-2014) is based on the need to implement the Alpine Convention ’s Climate Action Plan for the Alps and provide guide-lines based on updated scientific knowledge, to strengthen, harmonize and promote local adaptation policies and measures in the Alps.
The aim of this initiative is to create a board to discuss local impacts of climate change, help assessing vulnerability factors & resilience capacity and support local adaptation Strategies and Action Plans providing advice towards mainstreaming adaptation into sectoral policies, in coherence with the recommendations of the EU. The Task Force is composed by experts from the Alpine Convention’s countries and open to scientists and key stakeholders involved in the main projects on climate change in the Alps.
