Incident response system: area command - Training module
This guideline gives an overview of the existing institutional and legal arrangements and Incident Response System (IRS) in India. It describes the organisation of the IRS and details the different command and general staff positions, various incident facilities, documentation requirements, etc. It is intended for the personnel involved in incident/emergency response to better coordinate among the responding agencies and to ensure that the personnel involved in such responses do not get overwhelmed by the incident and have the ability and competence to function well during an emergency.
This student book: (i) provides a description of the concept of area command and get Indian as well as international perspectives; (ii) defines the advantages and benefits of using area command; (iii) discusses where and how area command can be utilized in IRS in India; and (iv) provides examples of area command use.
