Inclusive disaster risk reduction
This report explains the 'inclusive' principles and programmatic approach of Handicap International in its efforts to manage disaster risk and build resilience, especially among highly at risk or vulnerable groups due to age, gender and disability. The report provides insight into the concept of differential vulnerabilities between different population groups, which results in varying levels of risk and vulnerability to natural hazards. It provides frameworks for approaching DRR among vulnerable populations, including for mainstreaming inclusion into DRR, empowerment of at-risk groups, and access to services for people with disabilities.
