JCC2015 contribution towards Asian minister conference on DRR for key area 5
This paper provides recommendations for nuclear risks to be taken seriously as disaster risks, and for nations to join together to learn and mitigate any possible future catastrophes. In the wake of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant, it considers the need to decrease underlying risk level for residents around nuclear power plants and to clarify accountability lines and responsibilities of all stakeholders, and for such measures to be strictly followed by external verifications, including monitoring by civil society.
