Launch of Madagascar’s Global Risk Modelling Alliance programme: Phase 1 inception report
This Inception Report presents a proposition of roadmap for the first phase of the Global Risk Modelling Alliance (GRMA) program in Madagasca. The inception phase has focused on delivering two key areas of support: Creating a comprehensive risk profile for multiple hazards, including cyclone, floods, drought, landslides, erosion, fires, red sandstorms, and locust invasions, and; setting up a unified database to manage and utilize information on hazards, exposure, capacity, vulnerability, damage, and loss more effectively.
Madagascar’s geographic vulnerability to climate risks underscores the urgency of these initiatives. The launch of GRMA Phase 1 solidifies a foundation for long-term resilience, aligning with broader objectives such as Madagascar’s Climate Prosperity Plan and the Global Shield Ambition framework.
