Lessons for Central Asia from Armenia and Sakhalin

This paper assesses Central Asia rapid progress toward industrialization and urbanization, both of them identified as earthquake risk increasing factors, specifically considering the seismic vulnerability of residential buildings. It also proposes a call to action for political institutions, based on the lessons learned from past disasters in the region.
