Lessons learned in floods: Enhancing flood resilience
This publication has been produced to help companies enhance their flood resilience in the face of flood losses affecting almost one third of the world’s population, and increasing in frequency and severity across the globe. Extreme weather events have led to high insured losses for corporations this year, underpinning an increasing risk that is unfolding on every continent. Of the USD 280 billion economic losses from natural catastrophes last year, floods made up USD 82 billion and is considered a growing and underestimated risk.
The publication includes three real-life case studies from across the globe showing the impacts of flooding, key learnings, and future risk mitigation measures that can help businesses to minimise losses. It also provides guidance on creating a flood emergency response plan (FERP), and considerations for organisations in locations susceptible to repeat flooding.
