Lessons from recent major earthquakes
This report reviews the recent major earthquakes that took place in Chile, New Zealand, Japan, Italy and Turkey, amongst others. It states that the disastrous events of the last two years are a reminder that large parts of the globe are heavily exposed to earthquake risk. Raising public awareness of earthquake risk is then said to be sorely needed. It further asserts that solutions need to be discussed for how governments, businesses and households can help mitigate the losses caused by major earthquakes.
