Making cities resilient in Sweden
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Acency (MBS), the national focal point for the Hyogo Declaration and the HFA, reports six examples of local DRR action in Sweden. The aim of this report is to support city-to-city exchange of inspiring examples of local DRR action in Sweden. The six local DRR actions reported are:
- Political commitment for flood protection in Arvika;
- Simulation of flooding in Gothenburg with a city hydrological model;
- The Northern Network on Climate Change in Jokkmokk that secures sustainable future in the north;
- Flood risk management plan protecting the city of Karlstad;
- Action plan for protection against sea levels rising around the Falsterbo peninsula; and
- Beach protection policy to preserve settlements and infrastructure in Angelholm.
