Managing weather risk for agricultural development and disaster risk reduction
This paper describes the Weather Risk Management Facility (WRMF), which helps address weather risk challenge by developing and supporting innovative weather and climate risk management tools – such as weather index insurance (WII) – that improve rural livelihoods and reduce hunger. It draws on IFAD’s experience in rural finance and on the World Food Programme's (WFP) expertise in disaster risk reduction and management; and features two pilot case studies in China and Ethiopia.
