Natural disaster reduction: South East Asian realities, risk perception and gobal strategies
The recent tsunami in the Indian Ocean has caused considerable seismic unrest, this volume focuses on exposing the coastal vulnerability of the area. This global concern is all the more prevalent since the Hyogo Declaration at Kobe, Japan in January 2005 along with the Asian Summit in Indonesia. The purpose of this treatise is to bring to the fore the characteristics of the disastrous events of the region, seeking to present not only the continuing fatalities and fragilities of the area but also the possibilities of grappling with natural disasters.
