Natural risks and perception
This educational guide for the development of risk perception maps at primary education level is meant for teachers and communicators. It is the first implementation phase of the teaching unit "Natural risks and perception" for first and secondary education. It offers an overall view of natural risks (earthquake, tornado, volcanic eruption, landslide, flood, hurricane, tsunami), as part of the environment, from a territorial, ecological and social prospect. It explains the difference between natural risks and natural disasters. It is composed of 2 lessons of 40 mns each. It requires from pupils the development of a map, indicating each risk with a different colour. Two out-of-school activities supplement this approach to risks: interviews of adult people from the community having experimented a disaster and the preparation of a guide for the preparation of the family prevention plan.
