Niue: National action plan addressing land: Degradation and drought

Niue's National Action Plan was developed partly in response to the increasing prevalence of land degradation and desertification. Land is one of Niue’s basic fundamental resources and therefore needs to be protected, enhanced and properly managed if the best results are to be gained from it, and if it is to be maintained for use by future generations.

The Plan's key thematic areas are the sustainable management of land clearance, soil diagnostics, soil rehabilitation, sustainable cropping management practices, agroforestry, forestry, waste water and water resource management, education and awareness, capacity building, training and human resource development, and governance.
