Options for ecosystem-based adaptation in coastal environments
This guide presents information on how to take account of, and manage, ecosystems to help people adapt to climate change in coastal areas. The report helps build a broad understanding of the principles and concepts of coastal ecosystem-based adaptation (EBA). It presents and illustrates a range of different coastal EBA options and eight case studies from developing countries. The issues and challenges that need addressing in EBA implementation are also discussed.
This document is a strategic resource for environmental and adaptation managers and planners, principally in government departments and agencies, but also in businesses and civil society organizations. It aims to support environmental decision makers in choosing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and, over time, adaptively managing coastal EBA.
