OSCE: Enhancing disaster risk reduction - Decision no. 6/14

The Ministerial Council adopted Decision no. 6/14 (MC.DEC/6 /14) on enhancing disaster risk reduction, in the context of the efforts undertaken by the United Nations system in the area of disa ster risk reduction, which recognizes the complementary role OSCE has to play within its mandate in addressing this challenge in its specific region and the significance of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005–2015.

It encourages the participating States to actively engage in an effort to adopt and implement an integrated approach to disaster risk management and to engage in the preparations for the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) aiming at adopting the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction in Sendai in 2015, while also taking into consideration the importance of the ongoing global negotiations on climate change in the context of the UNFCCC and of the discussions on the post-2015 Development Agenda.
