Participatory Climate Risk Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (PCR-VCA): tools for operationalizing the Adaptive Livelihood Framework
This paper introduces a methodology that provides a set of tools to operationalize the Disaster Resistant Sustainable Livelihood (DRSL) Adaptive Livelihood framework (ALF) and build the adaptive capacity of communities. It is categorized under three different themes: (i) assessing the community’s overall risk context through disaster prioritization matrix, hazard mapping, seasonal calendar, disaster trend analysis, production trends and coping strategies matrix, and gender role analysis; (ii) assessing livelihood assets base; and (iii) assessing the enabling environment.
