Practical guidelines for integrating gender human rights and environmental issues in disaster risk management
The Guidelines build upon global standards and best practices and present practical advice on how to integrate gender, human rights and environment into nine thematic areas of the programme. Examples of thematic areas include, training and exercises, Multi-Risk Assessments, Early Warning Systems, Public awareness, volunteerism and Host Nation Support. The main target groups of the guidelines are the programme experts and partner organisation staff in the partner countries. However, they may also be of use outside the programme, and could support other actors in the Eastern Partnership region, and beyond.
The Practical guideline is a tool for this approach and introduce readers to why gender, human rights and environment is important in DRM and how the integration of these cross cutting perspectives in DRM helps responsible actors to more effectively carry out their job and fulfil their mandate. The Guideline can be used to support DRM actors to take practical actions to integrate these perspectice into activities within different thematic areas, such as Early Warning Systems, Risk Assessments, Emergency preparedness and public communication.
