President’s state, local, and tribal leaders task force on climate preparedness and resilience: recommendations to the President
This report presents recommendations on key actions the Federal Government can take to better support state, local, tribal, and territorial leaders working to prepare their communities for the impacts of climate change. These recommendations focus on opportunities to remove barriers to resilient investments, modernize Federal grant and loan programs to better support and encourage local efforts, and develop the information and tools that decision makers need to understand and prepare for the impacts of climate change.
The recommendations are organized across seven themes: (i) building resilient communities; (ii) improving resilience in the Nation’s infrastructure; (iii) ensuring resilience of natural resources; (iv) preserving human health and resilient populations; (v) supporting climate-smart hazard mitigation and disaster preparedness and recovery; (vi) understanding and acting on the economics of resilience; and (vii) building capacity for resilience.
