ProAct annual review 2009

This document reports on ProAct achievements in 2009, particularly in using environmental management to help people improve resilience to disasters, climate change and humanitarian crises. It addresses: (i) livelihood security as part of community resilience, such as in Sudan; (ii) poverty reduction in vulnerable communities as a priority, with example in the Democratic Republic of Congo; (iii) strategic institutional partnerships; (iv) knowledge sharing for capacity building; (v) communication, collaboration and co-ordination in a refugee camp in north-eastern Kenya; (vi) healthy ecosystems for community and environmental resilience, which includes ProAct's participation at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction; and (vii) community ownership with example in Rwanda.
