Programme of concrete actions on improvement of environmental and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea Basin for the period of 2003-2010: socio-economic aspects

Program of concrete Actions on improvement of ecological, social and economic conditions in Aral Sea Basin for the period 2003-2010 (ASBP-2), initiated by Heads of the Central Asia countries has been authorized on August, 28, 2003. This Program was developed with participation of representatives of Central Asia countries, Interstate Coordination Water-economic Commission, Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development, Regional Ecological Center, nongovernmental organizations, with support of the Swiss mission on Aral Sea problems, the European Union, OSCE and USAID. Decision of Aral ecological catastrophe problems requires the complex approach in long-term aspect. Therefore association of efforts of countries of region, international organizations, countries-donors, business, nongovernmental organizations, World community plays very important role.
