Programme at a glance: achievements and results in enhancing Mediterranean Civil Protection

This report briefly describes the activities implemented of the Euromed PPRD South Programme and the main results achieved with the view of sharing knowledge and lessons learnt both with the Civil Protection professionals as well as the wider public. It outlines: i) PPRD South Programme at a glance; ii) Programme activities and results - a closer look, including: risk assessment; prevention, preparedness and response; information and communications.

It asserts that PPRD South has experienced that prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters represent a key priority for Mediterranean Countries and the Civil Protection/Defence Authorities - whose interventions are mostly triggered by feelings of solidarity and mutual help - play a pivotal role in disaster management and disaster risk reduction both at national as well as at regional level.
