This is the project completion report of the Kathmandu Valley Earthquake Risk Management Project (Nepal) started in September 1997 and continued through the end of February 2000. The Kathmandu Valley Earthquake Risk Management Project was designed to meet four objectives: (i) evaluate earthquake risk and prescribe an action plan for managing that risk; (ii) reduce the public schools earthquake vulnerability; (iii) raise awareness of the public, of Nepalese government officials, of the international community resident in Kathmandu Valley, and of influential organizations abroad concerning earthquake risk; (iv) build local institutions that can sustain the work launched in this project.
