Protecting biodiversity and restoring ecosystems under the risks of climate change
This issue discusses biodiversity impacts on climate change and explores interlinked relationships. Climate Policies Journal is a periodic series issued by the Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC). The Journal provides analyses and insights on key local, regional, and international climate and environmental issues.
The issue tackles the importance of protecting biodiversity and nature conservation as they are no longer a luxury but an existential issue and a key pillar of the development process. The issue highlighted the definition of the concept of ‘biodiversity’, negative impacts f climate change on biodiversity’, different international visions and perspectives on promoting biodiversity and restoring ecosystems. It discussed successful initiatives and partnerships in nature conservation and the Egyptian efforts in this regard. The issue addressed the challenges faced by developing countries in protecting biodiversity and restoring natural systems and concluded with recommendations for decision-makers.
