Raising young people's awareness on preparedness and self-protection (YAPS)
This set of educational materials aims to increase the self-protection of children aged 7-12 for the following risks: storms, forest fires, influenza, emergencies, floods, landslides, and earthquakes. Additional educational materials are intended to raise children's awareness of aspects such as: volunteering, fire safety education, household risks, social engagement and a safe way to school.
The materials are divided into several categories:
- Worksheets and the corresponding methodical and didactic comments
- Storybooks
- Online games
- Guidance material for emergency and disaster response staff
These materials are the outcome of the "Raising young people’s awareness on preparedness and self-protection (YAPS)" project, which is funded by the European Union. YAPS is a joint project of the German Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), as the main contractor, the Austrian Red Cross (ARC), the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj (BBU), Romania.
