Report on 2010-2011 M.Sc. program 'Water-related disaster management course of disaster management policy program'
Technical note of PWRI no 4215:
This report analyzes the success of a Master's programme intended to foster solution-oriented practitioners with solid theoretical and engineering bases who can serve for planning and practices of flood management within the framework of integrated river basin management at all levels from nations to localities. The programme entitled "Water-related Disaster Management Course of Disaster Management Policy Program" took place from October 5, 2010 to September 16, 2011 in Japan.
The report is divided into six sections: (i) section one lists the objectives of the Master's program and the qualifications of the students attending; (ii) section two explains the course curriculum, including field trips and lectures, and the requirements of the final thesis project; (iii) section three contains the 2010-2011 Activity Report, which details the academic experience of the 2010-2011 Master's degree candidates; (iv) section four relates the details of the thesis project, including a schedule of deadlines and a list of the degree candidates' topics; (v) section five suggests improvements to the program based on student evaluations of the course; (vi) and section six concludes the report with testimonials from graduates of the program.
