A secure and disaster-resilient health sector in the Americas: strategic plan 2008-2012 of the Pan American Health Organization
This strategic plan is designed to contribute to human well-being, minimizing the negative effects of disasters and other crisis by responding to the health needs of vulnerable populations affected by such events. It focuses on strengthening the institutional capacity of the health sector in preparedness and risk reduction, while promoting an integrated, comprehensive, multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach to reduce the impact of natural, technological or manmade hazards on public health in the region.
