AMAP’s new assessment of the impacts of climate change on Snow, Water, Ice and Permafrost in the Arctic (SWIPA) examines how it will impact the Arctic and asserts that adaptation is urgent and needed at all levels. It is recommended to develop and implement Arctic adaptation strategies appropriate to the scale and character of anticipated changes. This document brings together the latest scientific knowledge about the changing state of each component of the Arctic ‘cryosphere’.
