From social vulnerability to resilience: measuring progress toward disaster risk reduction - InterSecTions
This edition of InterSecTions discusses the challenges associated with assessments of resilience, responding to the following questions: Who is resilient and to what? Whose resilience is it? When is someone or something resilient? How does someone or something acquire resilience?
Drawing on discussions and presentations given at the 2012 Summer Academy organized by UNU-EHS and Munich Re Foundation in Hohenkammer, Germany, it reviews existing research outlining the current state of resilience assessments and concludes with several suggestions for moving resilience research forward.
