Solomon Islands: National disaster risk management plan
This plan provides for the establishment of institutional arrangements for the Solomon Islands Government to address disaster risk management within the country. It includes both disaster management arrangements for preparing for, managing and recovering from disaster events and institutional mechanisms for addressing disaster risk reduction, including climate change adaptation. Arrangements are addressed at the national, provincial and local levels.
This plan states that disaster risk management requires a policy consideration, in order to to establish obligations and roles, set arrangements and accountabilities and to provide for national planning. It has been prepared and endorsed by the National Disaster Council (the Council) established under Section 3 of the National Disaster Council Act (the Act) and approved by the Cabinet of the Solomon Islands Government under Section 10 of the Act.
