Sri Lanka disaster management (amendment) act, no. 13 of 2005
This Act officially amends various sections the 2005 Disaster Management Act. This version revises the functions of the National Council for Disaster Management and its meeting times. Moreover, the 2011 Act amends the powers and functions of the Disaster Management Centre and further describes the roles of the Centre's Director-General.
The Act also amends the process of appointment of Technical Advisory Committees. It changes the process in which a state of disaster is declared and the procedure to be followed upon its declaration. Section 13 of the original, which contains provisions related to obtaining assistance from non-governmental organizations, is also amended. This version also changes Sections 23 and 25, which outline offences and penalties and interpretation of the Act, respectively.
