The state of environmental migration 2010
This document is intended to be the first of an annual series, which will aim to provide the reader with regularly-updated qualitative assessments on the changing nature and dynamics of environmental migration throughout the world. The record-breaking floods that wracked Pakistan starting in July, the devastating Haiti Earthquake of January and the more seismically-severe (but less deadly) quake in Chile (March) are all examined. An example from France: February’s Xynthia, is also addressed. It states that disaster risk reduction strategies and protection policies for displaced persons must be implemented.
