Sustainable community based disaster management (CBDM) practices in Asia: a user's guide
The project "Sustainability of Community Based Disaster Management" (CBDM) was a three year research project. The goal of the project is to achieve safety and sustainability of livelihoods for effective disaster mitigation, focusing on three key elements: self-help, co-operation, and education.
This guide is intended to provide a set of guidelines, tools and a framework for different users for effective implementation and sustaining CBDM activities. This guide should be considered as general criteria which might, and should, vary from country to country, from community to community. Therefore, while using this guide, country and community context should be kept in mind.
