Systems of early warning of the main nature disasters with public notification in Uzbekistan
This paper describes the role of Uzhydomet, the Centre of Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in monitoring natural disasters and communicating risk to the relevant government bodies. The monitoring is performed by using satellite information, surface monitoring and maintaining the information system on hydrometeorological disasters.
The author proposes the following ao improve the structures and systems of early warning (p. 7-8):
- to develop a common strategy to ensure the safety and mitigation of effects from dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena with the inclusion into the national development plan;
- to develop and improve methods of long-term forecasting of hazard factors through the development of the expected climate change scenarios;
- to develop and implement early warning systems with long advance time for dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena.
