Technical guide for the implementation of a regional climate information system applied to the agricultural risk management in the Andean countries
This publication provides methodological principles and recommendations for application and implementation of climate modelling statistics in the Andean region. It describes step by step how to implement a climate information system for the agricultural sector and each one of its components. It includes learned lessons, sustainability strategies and future challenges. Its purpose is to articulate institutions, technicians and technological resources to provide scientific tools which, through climate forecast, assist in decision making, the creation of early warning systems and risk management within the framework of the Andean region.
This technical guide is the result of the project IADB ATN/OC – 10064 – RG, funded by the Inter American Development Bank, in close coordination with the Meteorological and Hydrological National Institutes from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Venezuela.
