Technology for adapting to climate change
This policy briefing describes how access to new and improved technologies, skills and knowledge can reduce vulnerability and help the poor adapt to climate change, such as early warning systems or improved water management. It uses the international negotiations for a new post-2012 climate change treaty as an opportunity to scale up the use of technologies that have proved themselves to support appropriate adaptation. It aims to raise awareness of the threats, link expert information with local knowledge, enable people to participate in the development and improvement of existing technologies to be more effective in addressing vulnerability and enabling adaptation to climate change.
This note is part of a series of six two-page briefings on key climate change topics originally produced as part of Practical Action's unified approach to its advocacy work with governments, NGOs and other agencies in the run up to Copenhagen.
